Brazilian actors Bruno Fagundes and Igor Fernandez also fell in love while filming the telenovela "Cara e Coragem". They don't play a couple in it, though.

R3 I had no idea it has happened before! OMG! I think what makes this so special is that they play gay and a couple on the show too. It's art imitating life. Well, they don't play the main couple (that's Tato and Toni), but Santi is a love interest. He has only been in a few episodes. I expect the relationship on the show to evolve, the telenovela has only aired 3 episodes, out of a total like 100. I added their most recent scenes (in Spanish).

I'm surprised the telenovela format has not been embraced here. It could have been a means to keep some of the dead soaps going.

I've never heard of them but they're both very nice looking - good on them for being honest and out.

That’s nice that they’ve found each other and are in love. Good for them. However, their story is just another example of how easy it is to find love when you’re young and hot and have a successful career. This is why I have always been so lukewarm on gay marriage. That’s nice that people can now marry their same-sex partners; but if you have no partner, which a lot of gay men don’t for one reason or another, then the whole thing is kind of bittersweet.

They have quite a big age difference, 11 years. Santi is 33 while Toni is 22. They're also from different countries, Santi is from Argentina and Toni is from Spain. I guess they make it work though because they have been together for more than a year already. They started dating in january 2022, they were practicing their scenes together and the rest is history.

This is interesting. Santi talks about how he instantly fell in love with Toni, from the first video chat they had after Toni was hired, while Toni was still in Mallorca. He wanted to follow him on insta, but apparently he didn't have one at the time (he had deleted it because he rarely used it), so Santi had to ask for his number from one of the casting directors. Apparently it wasn't instant from Toni, who at first didn't want to be with him. Santi said he had to try to flirt, he would be devastated if he didn't get him, and told Toni to be single before he left for Buenos Aires. Apparently it worked because Toni changed his mind and they did indeed end up together. They've been together for more than a year now.

After reading that article in R35 I realized I got everything wrong. Fml. This is what happens when stuff gets lost in translation. Santi was instantly attracted to Toni and they did kiss when rehearsing their scenes, but they didn't actually start dating until almost a year later. They were both attracted to each other, but Toni came from a bad breakup, and he didn't want to get into a relationship while filming because he was scared what would happen if they broke up and still had to film scenes together. They didn't actually start dating until December 2022, after filming had ended.

That must have been so awkward, to win the prize for best couple, with both liking each other, but not actually being together. Santi must have been in pain, because he actually fell in love the first time he laid his eyes on Toni. Good thing then that Toni finally gave in at the wrap party.

One more thing: I thought Toni might be bi, but he basically confirms he is gay. He said he was more attracted to guys than girls growing up, but that he was conditioned to heterosexuality. He kissed a guy for the first time at 15, and they stayed friends, but then he kissed another guy who basically outed him in a tweet. Yikes! I feel like I can relate more to Santi though, being alone for a long time, having older parents who don't really accept you right away, because they're from a different generation etc. It's obvious Santi and I are from the same generation, we're both Millennials.
