Just to jump in, I'll say that Ken Jennings, who once seemed a terrible choice as host, has grown on me; he's lively and engaging. His and the contestants' asides and ad libs would probably have made Alex recoil, but I rather like them for the most part. (And he's so prefereable to Mayim.)

But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?

That all ended with COVID.

Alex used to stand in front of the contestants podium to interview them, but once COVID hit, that stopped. Host now stands at least 10 feet away at all times. Same thing at the end.

Although the host does still pose for photos with the contestants after the show. But that happens after the camera is turned off.

Marko's Vanna White story was awkward, don't think I really understood it. But, he's cute and pinged, so ... yay!

Connecticut seemed obvious to me.

Yay, Marco!! Way to go. He seems like a nice guy. I had a feeling that Allison wasn’t going to win it one more time because the DDs were not her friends tonight. She got the first one wrong and the two in Double Jeopardy went to each of her challengers. Plus, instead of remaining quiet and not venturing answers, as she had done previously, she seemed to get a few answers wrong.

Allison was "exposed" as a less than a great champion. She missed several easy answers (like thinking Arkansas was a state before Alabama). I thought FJ was really easy... CT pretty obvious.

Marco is cute as a button.

Alison was quite sporting to her fellow contestants, I liked her for that.

I, too, guessed Arkansas, even though I knew it was too far south to be correct.

When a champ wears a tie after not doing so for several nights, he is going to lose. Seen this before.

I got Final, but it wasn't obvious.

I guessed Lorraine Hansberry, too.

I thought Hurston was pretty obvious, really the only answer considering a Black woman writer in the time period mentioned.

But, yeah....Sylvia Plath???? There is nothing remotely right about that response.

Nam looks to be around for awhile, I think.

I guessed Hurston for Final. Couldn’t think of any other black female novelists and playwrights of that era, but figured it was wrong. Was surprised but delighted to learn it was right.

Plath was obviously a hail mary guess as time was running out. Marko knew it was wrong but Plath was better than leaving it blank.

Yes, she lucked out because if Ferdinand had gotten the correct answer she would have lost. His bet would have given him a greater total than Amy was able to garner. But, he didn’t know and she bested him — which was quite fortunate on her part.

That other woman couldn’t get it going. Poor thing.

I got FJ after a little bit of thinking. It was either going to come to you or it wasn’t.

Amy got very lucky.

Amy definitely is lucky. She's low-energy, seemingly sedated contestant who somehow manages to keep winning.

I thought Ferdinand was finally going to knock her out. Too bad he couldn't figure out an easy Final.

I didn't catch the first round of watching the beginning of the second round I was certain that Henry was going to be constantly battling the wiki chick for the lead. But it seems like they were both so desperate to answer every clue they kept attempting and getting wrong answers. And then suddenly the lady in the middle Sparks to life and pretty much pounces both of them that was pretty cool.

I'm sad that the middle Asian. Lady didn't win. And while I'm not a fan at all of wacky head I'm really glad that Henry didn't win because I couldn't have stood watching another episode with that thing.

The lady from Hawaii seemed sweet and she was very delightful to watch. I was rooting for her. I thought when I saw her smiling before her FJ reveal that she’d clinch it, but alas. We’re stuck with Waka Flocka going into next week.

Not once have I seen a DD on the top row. Never. Turns out fat champ lady also knows nothing about Capote books, so it didn’t matter. Still, it’s one of the most idiotic moves I’ve ever seen on the show.

Anyone remember a former Jeopardy champ named Dennis. Older, tall, bald, long beard, great baritone voice. I think he may have been in the play-in tourneys earlier this season? I was watching a show called Switched on GSN and was surprised to see him as a contestant. It’s a show that starts with five consistently stupid people, with one contestant getting the boot after the first and second rounds. Dennis got the boot after the first round. How humbling.

R184 Sounds like Dennis Chase. He was on in 2021 (guest host Aaron Rodgers), and was back again in November 2023 for the Wildcard tournament.

That Little Shop of Horrors response was SO bad, the audience broke into laughter.

What the audience should've done was thrown things at the guy - or at the very least, maybe Ken should have gone over and just slapped him.

I liked both Will and Omar, either would've been OK as a winner with me. Final question was really clever, had no idea.

I'm glad Grant won, I was tired of the other guy. I feel bad for these older woman who play as I'm sure they're intelligent to make it on the show but aging slows down your reflexes.

God I can't stand the guy that one tonight I hope he loses tomorrow.

Grant didn't strike me as the strongest player so I'll be surprised if he hangs around for long.

Frankly, I was very surprised that Ken (or the judges) ruled that "Lucy....Arnaz" was enough. But then, the former champ bet so little money I'm not sure he would have won in any case.

And HAS THERE EVER BEEN AN EASIER FJ???

As a LONGTIME Jeopardy fan (meaning I watched during the Art Fleming days when the clues were covered with cardboard!!) the problem I have with the show is the way the clues are being written!! They're all so wordy, with cutesy/jokesy references sprinkled in, and way too much "clever" wordplay. Ken reads them fast enough, but it sometimes takes a second or two to get the reference they're talking about! They have about fifteen writers listed in the credits, so they should be able to come up with COHERENT and FACTUAL clues.

I cannot account for the parade of weirdo nerds and dumbos who are passing for contestants lately.

I enjoyed Grant’s enthusiasm.

He didn’t come to play, he came to win.

I can't stand Grant either. Hairstyle indicates to me he's channeling his inner Fran Lebowitz.

Grant is obviously a serial killer. He hunts down prostitutes in his office chair with lumbar support.

This is the first time I’ve noticed a contestant in a chair.

Grant leans forward in his chair a lot so it's more obvious he's in a chair than other contestants who sit.

The Sun reports that Grant was on Reddit and answered the question about the chair, saying he has some kind of back arthritis that makes standing for long periods of time difficult.

(And no, he's not the first contestant to be in some kind of chair.)

God I can't stand him. It's too bad the other two are so awful but he couldn't help but win.

After the break, and before FJ, Ken announced a scoring change because the correct response was “Elixir” as the judges determined “Elixir of Life” was different.

BTW, FJ was beyond easy for me as I grew up in Medford, one of the cities mentioned in the clue.

A grocery clerk that can’t stand?

All of the clerks in my grocery (NYC) could do their work sitting on a chair.

Similarly, I think cashiers at Aldi are in chairs.

There was a walmart by my Dad's apartment that I would do his shopping at and one of the cashiers there was always sitting. However one evening she was in the line that sold cigarettes and I remember there were two people ahead of me and the guy she was checking out asked for a pack so she got up and grab them and then sat back down and finished checking him out. The next guy also ask for a cigarettes and that just set it off and before she got up to grab his she bellowed down the line asking if anybody else was planning to ask for cigarettes so she wouldn't have to get up more than once. Of course no one responded and I'm certain that the people after me we're planning to buy cigarettes but opted not to.
