Just to jump in, I'll say that Ken Jennings, who once seemed a terrible choice as host, has grown on me; he's lively and engaging. His and the contestants' asides and ad libs would probably have made Alex recoil, but I rather like them for the most part. (And he's so prefereable to Mayim.)

But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?

by Anonymousreply 2April 18, 2024 2:19 PM

[quote]But I wonder: Alex used to walk to the winner to shake their hand. Why doesn't Ken? Hygiene?

That all ended with COVID.

Alex used to stand in front of the contestants podium to interview them, but once COVID hit, that stopped. Host now stands at least 10 feet away at all times. Same thing at the end.

Although the host does still pose for photos with the contestants after the show. But that happens after the camera is turned off.

by Anonymousreply 3April 18, 2024 5:56 PM

Marko's Vanna White story was awkward, don't think I really understood it. But, he's cute and pinged, so ... yay!

Connecticut seemed obvious to me.

by Anonymousreply 4April 19, 2024 12:05 AM

Yay, Marco!! Way to go. He seems like a nice guy. I had a feeling that Allison wasn’t going to win it one more time because the DDs were not her friends tonight. She got the first one wrong and the two in Double Jeopardy went to each of her challengers. Plus, instead of remaining quiet and not venturing answers, as she had done previously, she seemed to get a few answers wrong.

by Anonymousreply 5April 19, 2024 12:06 AM

Allison was "exposed" as a less than a great champion. She missed several easy answers (like thinking Arkansas was a state before Alabama). I thought FJ was really easy... CT pretty obvious.

Marco is cute as a button.

by Anonymousreply 6April 19, 2024 2:30 AM

Alison was quite sporting to her fellow contestants, I liked her for that.

by Anonymousreply 7April 19, 2024 2:54 AM

I, too, guessed Arkansas, even though I knew it was too far south to be correct.

by Anonymousreply 8April 19, 2024 2:03 PM

Connecticut seemed easy in retrospect. But only then,

by Anonymousreply 9April 19, 2024 2:36 PM

Finally a fun game with some decent competition. Go Marko!!

by Anonymousreply 10April 19, 2024 2:36 PM

Farewell, Foghorn Leghorn. We hardly knew ye.

by Anonymousreply 11April 19, 2024 3:20 PM

Good game. I like Marko, the new champ. He does have a math professor quality about him.

I said Delaware for Final.

by Anonymousreply 12April 19, 2024 5:30 PM

. . .

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 13April 19, 2024 9:15 PM

So did I, R12! Didn’t even remember CT.

The new champ is a cutie.

Plus today’s FJ was ridiculously easy.

by Anonymousreply 14April 20, 2024 3:28 AM

I’d be more embarrassed to have guessed Delaware than Arkansas. That FJ was ridiculously easy.

by Anonymousreply 15April 20, 2024 3:37 AM

That was like Final Jeopardy for Juniors.

by Anonymousreply 16April 20, 2024 6:25 AM

So glad to see Super Villain Molly go down in flames.

Her cockiness was annoying.

by Anonymousreply 17April 20, 2024 6:48 AM

I'd love to make the new champ smile.

by Anonymousreply 18April 20, 2024 4:19 PM

With your tongue, R18?

by Anonymousreply 19April 20, 2024 5:08 PM

Sylvia Plath???

by Anonymousreply 20April 22, 2024 11:58 PM

When a champ wears a tie after not doing so for several nights, he is going to lose. Seen this before.

I got Final, but it wasn't obvious.

by Anonymousreply 21April 23, 2024 12:02 AM

I guessed Lorraine Hansberry, too.

by Anonymousreply 22April 23, 2024 12:04 AM

I thought Hurston was pretty obvious, really the only answer considering a Black woman writer in the time period mentioned.

But, yeah....Sylvia Plath???? There is nothing remotely right about that response.

Nam looks to be around for awhile, I think.

by Anonymousreply 23April 23, 2024 1:26 AM

I got Zora Neale Hurston at the last second.

by Anonymousreply 24April 23, 2024 2:00 AM

R20 I though Marco was cute and I was sad when he looked like he was going to lose.... but then.... Plath. One of the craziest responses ever. (Although the image of her collaborating with Moms Mabley is pretty fun.) And with "Plath" all my interest in the lad went away. Funny how something stupid can extinguish affection.

by Anonymousreply 25April 23, 2024 2:32 AM

R12 I guessed Delaware, too.

I knew it wasn't an "A" state, I just forget about fucking Connecticut when I was going through the alphabetical list of states. (Though to be fair to me, it's a very easy state to forget about.)

by Anonymousreply 26April 23, 2024 3:09 AM

Go Nam! Bravo! I liked him instantly and also think he’ll be around for a while.

I guessed Hurston for Final. Couldn’t think of any other black female novelists and playwrights of that era, but figured it was wrong. Was surprised but delighted to learn it was right.

Plath was obviously a hail mary guess as time was running out. Marko knew it was wrong but Plath was better than leaving it blank.

by Anonymousreply 27April 23, 2024 8:07 AM

R27, Leaving it blank would have been less embarrassing than offering a ridiculous response.

by Anonymousreply 28April 23, 2024 10:01 AM

Cue all the Ben Franklin, Mark Twain and Dorothy Parker quotes.......

by Anonymousreply 29April 23, 2024 1:25 PM

R27 There's Hail Mary (e.g. Tony Morrison) and then there's lunacy/shit-the-bed (a white privileged suicidal poet who wasn't born in 1932).

I agree Nam looks like he'll be around a while.

by Anonymousreply 30April 23, 2024 2:23 PM

That was short-lived.

No surprise that he still lives at home with his parents.

by Anonymousreply 31April 24, 2024 12:43 AM

Is “Nam” short for Vietnam?

by Anonymousreply 32April 24, 2024 1:41 AM

No hug for the piano teacher?

by Anonymousreply 33April 24, 2024 1:42 AM

I loved the piano teacher and was thrilled whenever she responded correctly (and slowly).

But at FJ I actually snorted, "yeah, right............" Wasn't I surprised?!

by Anonymousreply 34April 24, 2024 1:54 AM

Respectfully, i don’t think there was a single moment tonight or last night when Nam looked like he’d “be around for a while”.

by Anonymousreply 35April 24, 2024 2:41 AM

R35 At the start of the show Ken shared that Nam's 75% buzzing in/correct answer record the previous night was unprecedented. I guess you need to tell Ken and producers they were wrong and you knew it. Do it with respect though, eh?

by Anonymousreply 36April 24, 2024 2:50 AM

r2, If they're worried about Covid, why are the contestants allowed to hug?

by Anonymousreply 37April 24, 2024 2:56 AM

I was shocked that he recognized Buchanan immediately like that being Canadian.

by Anonymousreply 38April 24, 2024 12:21 PM

The rumors about Buchanan have made him a gay pin-up boy.

by Anonymousreply 39April 24, 2024 12:38 PM

Yea! Correct with FJ

The old winner seemed very low key.

I like the new lady winner.

by Anonymousreply 40April 25, 2024 12:28 AM

I thought ginger was hot.

by Anonymousreply 41April 25, 2024 1:12 AM

Good close game! Seemed through most of it like any one of them could have come out on top. I like the new champ.

by Anonymousreply 42April 25, 2024 1:36 AM

All three got FJ right, it's been awhile since that has happened.

by Anonymousreply 43April 25, 2024 1:48 AM

I foolishly guessed the Orient Express. The Hindenberg seemed quite obvious once revealed.

by Anonymousreply 44April 25, 2024 2:34 AM

Look up “nonbinary” in the dictionary and it would just be an artist’s rendering of defending champ’s hairdo.

by Anonymousreply 45April 25, 2024 4:42 AM

Orient Express, famous for its pressurization and need for air locks between cars.

by Anonymousreply 46April 25, 2024 4:43 AM

One needs to know who the Montgolfiers are.

by Anonymousreply 47April 25, 2024 5:56 AM

I want to be the meat in a Tyler/Justin sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 48April 25, 2024 11:32 PM

JFC!

Tyler and Justin might as well have gone for coffee and let Amy play alone.

by Anonymousreply 49April 25, 2024 11:55 PM

Even with Amy's skills, there were so many unanswered responses. Tyler seemed promising, but he just collapsed in DJ.

by Anonymousreply 50April 26, 2024 12:11 AM

Not exactly a nail-biter tonight.

by Anonymousreply 51April 26, 2024 12:20 AM

How could not one of them know “The Caine Mutiny”?

How could not one of them know Charles de Gaulle was President of France in 1967?

by Anonymousreply 52April 26, 2024 12:21 AM

And Maybelline!!!!

The 3 of them just seemed too young for some of the categories tonight. And I can't remember an episode with so many unanswered questions at the end.

by Anonymousreply 53April 26, 2024 12:26 AM

I knew obscure Woodrow Wilson question - yay, me! Although, folks here are by definition seriously above average intelligence as a group.

by Anonymousreply 54April 26, 2024 12:33 AM

But that was a very hard FJ. I guess no surprise that that huge tacky statue is in Tennessee.

by Anonymousreply 55April 26, 2024 12:36 AM

I guessed Georgia.

by Anonymousreply 56April 26, 2024 3:00 AM

I got FJ because I immediately thought of the Parthenon copy in Nashville. I’ve always wondered what the fuck that is doing in Tennessee.

by Anonymousreply 57April 26, 2024 3:04 AM

So many unanswered clues! I wonder if this was a record.

I figured out Final after thinking of the Parthenon replica.

by Anonymousreply 58April 26, 2024 9:47 AM

I think I detected a bit of frustration on Ken's part with the contestants' ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 59April 26, 2024 12:11 PM

I’m done with Amy and her blasé attitude. She’s boring and she’s slow. She’s becoming unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 60April 26, 2024 10:23 PM

No Jeopardy at the regular time tonight because of the NFL Draft. Instead, it’s been moved to 3:00 am. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 61April 26, 2024 10:30 PM

Where do you live, R61?

by Anonymousreply 62April 26, 2024 10:46 PM

R60, Amy has the torso of a football player with those broad shoulders.

by Anonymousreply 63April 26, 2024 10:47 PM

Amy = Born to be broad.

by Anonymousreply 64April 26, 2024 11:03 PM

DC, R62.

by Anonymousreply 65April 26, 2024 11:57 PM

Did anyone else notice the huge man boobs on Matt the bald guy tonight?

by Anonymousreply 66April 27, 2024 12:34 AM

Why does Amy seem sedated?

by Anonymousreply 67April 27, 2024 12:35 AM

She's a doctor. You know those doctors and drugs.

by Anonymousreply 68April 27, 2024 4:12 AM

She lucks out once again.

by Anonymousreply 69April 30, 2024 12:46 AM

FJ was one of the easier ones.

by Anonymousreply 70April 30, 2024 1:01 AM

Lucked out? She had the right response. The guy with more money didn't. Even the gal with $800 had the right response.

by Anonymousreply 71April 30, 2024 1:07 AM

Easy FJ, she lucked out that he didn't know it when most challengers would have.

by Anonymousreply 72April 30, 2024 1:33 AM

The stupidity lately is maddening. As is the lisping.

by Anonymousreply 73April 30, 2024 3:02 AM

Yes, she lucked out because if Ferdinand had gotten the correct answer she would have lost. His bet would have given him a greater total than Amy was able to garner. But, he didn’t know and she bested him — which was quite fortunate on her part.

by Anonymousreply 74April 30, 2024 3:25 AM

That other woman couldn’t get it going. Poor thing.

I got FJ after a little bit of thinking. It was either going to come to you or it wasn’t.

Amy got very lucky.

by Anonymousreply 75April 30, 2024 4:50 AM

Amy definitely is lucky. She's low-energy, seemingly sedated contestant who somehow manages to keep winning.

I thought Ferdinand was finally going to knock her out. Too bad he couldn't figure out an easy Final.

by Anonymousreply 76April 30, 2024 5:35 AM

by Anonymousreply 78April 30, 2024 3:59 PM

Seeing him blow Lake Geneva like that was incredibly painful.

by Anonymousreply 79May 1, 2024 12:21 AM

I want to see a battle of the Amys. "There can be only one!"

by Anonymousreply 80May 1, 2024 12:38 AM

Cue the Amy is just lucky trolls!

by Anonymousreply 81May 1, 2024 12:43 AM

There was no need for Bryan to bet it all on that DD.

A stupid mistake that he’ll regret forever.

by Anonymousreply 82May 1, 2024 12:45 AM

I was really rooting for the older lady. Loved her spunk!

But she, like me, was far too old to make that Ninja Turtles connection. And because the category was Fictional Groups I assumed they were referring to characters from.....fiction. You know, like novels.

by Anonymousreply 83May 1, 2024 12:46 AM

She is, dear R81. Lucky, slow and not terribly bright. If the kid gets easy easy easy Lake Geneva she doesn’t have a chance. Finishing in the lead with $7,600 is pathetic,

by Anonymousreply 84May 1, 2024 12:54 AM

Except the kid didn't get easy easy easy Lake Geneva.

by Anonymousreply 85May 1, 2024 12:57 AM

Comfortably numb Amy is one of the dullest champs ever.

There are zombies that are livelier than she is.

Yeah, that old lady certainly was spunky.

Bryan never recovered after that DD fiasco. Oh, and he had nice lips.

by Anonymousreply 86May 1, 2024 1:32 AM

OK, Amy has secured a spot in the next Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to here.

Now its time for her to exit and let someone more interesting and exciting be champion for a while.

by Anonymousreply 87May 1, 2024 5:57 PM

She is so slow to react when she is picking the next clue. She's an emergency room doctor. I want my doctors to think on their feet.

by Anonymousreply 88May 1, 2024 8:16 PM

Stupid, lucky (yes, lucky R85) Amy from Milwaukee doesn’t know the largest park in Chicago is Lincoln Park. I am so done with this lifeless ass.

by Anonymousreply 89May 1, 2024 8:54 PM

Is Amy short for Ambien?

by Anonymousreply 90May 1, 2024 9:32 PM

Reminder: Here's the thread to discuss the Jeopardy Masters Tournament that starts tonight.

by Anonymousreply 91May 1, 2024 10:25 PM

Know your opera, contestants! MADAME BUTTERFLY would have saved her!

And what kind of stupid ass name is "Wickea??" And she annoyingly kept repeating, "I'll take..." whenever she chose a clue. Someone should really coach these contestants before they appear!!!

by Anonymousreply 92May 1, 2024 11:04 PM

Tonight’s FJ was super easy.

by Anonymousreply 93May 1, 2024 11:18 PM

Cinchy FJ.

by Anonymousreply 94May 1, 2024 11:27 PM

How did they all miss FJ?? It was incredibly easy. The CIA? NORAD?

Bye, bye, Amy.

by Anonymousreply 95May 2, 2024 12:00 AM

I'm sure you're all going to love Wikkeakai.

Miss me yet, bitches?

by Anonymousreply 96May 2, 2024 12:28 AM

Wikipedia is already super irritating.

by Anonymousreply 97May 2, 2024 12:30 AM

What about poor Nils? He was kinda hot and ahead there for a quick minute.

by Anonymousreply 98May 2, 2024 12:42 AM

R98, He reminded me of Howard Dean.

by Anonymousreply 99May 2, 2024 1:22 AM

How could Ken not ask Waikiki about her name during the interview segment?

by Anonymousreply 100May 2, 2024 1:23 AM

No one spotted Robert Mitchum?

by Anonymousreply 101May 2, 2024 1:41 AM

FJ was very easy, but apparently everyone was thrown off by the date.

by Anonymousreply 102May 2, 2024 2:30 AM

Was not rooting for Wikkeaka. I hope it’s short lived.

by Anonymousreply 103May 2, 2024 2:43 AM

I was rooting for Nils, the pot luck dinner (and I presumed gay) guy.

Instead we got stuck with Caltiki - or whatever the hell her name is.

Well, at least Dr. Sleep is gone.

by Anonymousreply 104May 2, 2024 3:01 AM

Easiest FJ in a long time. NORAD? I think NORAD already worked overtime, jeez.

by Anonymousreply 105May 2, 2024 7:23 PM

Who won last night? I missed the show.

by Anonymousreply 106May 3, 2024 11:38 AM

Wiki, R106.

by Anonymousreply 107May 3, 2024 11:48 AM

I didn't know France had a space program in the 60s. But there weren't many countries to choose from -- France, Britain and China were the only real possibilities beside USA and USSR. And the name made it obviously French.

Miss Wikipedia is already getting old. And she's only two games in!

by Anonymousreply 108May 3, 2024 5:18 PM

"France" would have been even more obvious, if they'd spelled the clue correctly using l'accent aigu in the satellite's actual name: Astérix.

by Anonymousreply 109May 3, 2024 6:19 PM

Today is NOT a murderer’s row of knowledge. Dumb, dumber and dumbest.

by Anonymousreply 110May 3, 2024 9:43 PM

And Henry is cringy gross.

by Anonymousreply 111May 3, 2024 9:44 PM

R111, Haven’t watched tonight’s show yet, but judging from the site’s photo, is Henry trans?

by Anonymousreply 112May 3, 2024 9:51 PM

Fj was super easy!!!

OMG, can’t believe Waikiki pulled it off!!

by Anonymousreply 113May 4, 2024 12:30 AM

I couldn’t decide whether Henry was gay, trans, both, or a Paul Lynde impersonator.

by Anonymousreply 114May 4, 2024 12:34 AM

R113, Not for me, I blanked and all I could think of was Lola from “Copacabana”, which I knew was wrong.

by Anonymousreply 115May 4, 2024 12:41 AM

Yeah, good grief. Wackycaca is dull as dish water. I can’t imagine they’ll allow her to notch five wins. She’d be dead weight in ToC. She doesn’t have star quality like Rowan had.

by Anonymousreply 116May 4, 2024 12:48 AM

I didn't catch the first round of watching the beginning of the second round I was certain that Henry was going to be constantly battling the wiki chick for the lead. But it seems like they were both so desperate to answer every clue they kept attempting and getting wrong answers. And then suddenly the lady in the middle Sparks to life and pretty much pounces both of them that was pretty cool.

by Anonymousreply 117May 4, 2024 12:54 AM

I'm sad that the middle Asian. Lady didn't win. And while I'm not a fan at all of wacky head I'm really glad that Henry didn't win because I couldn't have stood watching another episode with that thing.

by Anonymousreply 118May 4, 2024 1:06 AM

The lady from Hawaii seemed sweet and she was very delightful to watch. I was rooting for her. I thought when I saw her smiling before her FJ reveal that she’d clinch it, but alas. We’re stuck with Waka Flocka going into next week.

by Anonymousreply 119May 4, 2024 2:43 AM

OMG I was so disappointed. I was so hoping Wikipedia would lose. The only champion I hate more than her is the guy who dresses up like a lady. The hula lady would have been a return to normalcy.

by Anonymousreply 120May 4, 2024 6:15 AM

Wikikakai is even luckier than Amy.

by Anonymousreply 121May 4, 2024 1:40 PM

Wackycaca, Wikipedia, Wikikakai, Waikiki, Wiki, Caltiki, Wikkeaka, Wickea . . .

No matter how you spell it, she's the very definition of lifeless.

Stick a mirror under her nose to see if she's still breathing.

Between her and previous champ Dr. Ambien, this has been Night of the Living Dead Week on Jeopardy.

by Anonymousreply 122May 4, 2024 3:17 PM

I picture WickyWackyBowl with 3 therapy dogs, 11 cats, 6 goats, 2 ferrets and a pot-bellied pig named Pork Chop, and they all sleep in the same bed.

I can smell her through my tv.

by Anonymousreply 123May 4, 2024 8:24 PM

"Weckiai" is a Comanche name. You can find her listed in obituaries for her Comanche relatives. "Rannila" is her husband's surname. On their wedding registry, she listed her surname as "Grandbergs-Duncan." She has a relative (possibly a sister) named "Weyodi" with that same surname, but as a Comanche author, poet, and painter, this woman goes by the name "Weyodi Old Bear."

Yes, I'm bored today.

by Anonymousreply 124May 4, 2024 9:12 PM

She should should have just abbreviated it to Dead Inside. Fucking dungeons and dragons.

by Anonymousreply 125May 4, 2024 10:56 PM

I needed Wiki’s creepy energy to leave my TV.

by Anonymousreply 126May 4, 2024 11:17 PM

What is the fucking thing she does with her hands to her mouth when she wins? God she's weirder than the chowchow guy.

by Anonymousreply 127May 4, 2024 11:19 PM

Wiki is having a very negative effect on me. It’s irrational, but I can’t help but be repelled by her.

by Anonymousreply 128May 4, 2024 11:20 PM

We need star power goddamn it!

STAR. POWER.

Lucky Amy and Walla Walla just aren't it.

by Anonymousreply 129May 4, 2024 11:21 PM

You know Wickerwork has at least one lampshade made from the skin of one of her dead cats.

by Anonymousreply 130May 4, 2024 11:22 PM

Have I missed it or has Ken not asked her about the origin of her name? It seems so odd that it hasn't been addressed.

by Anonymousreply 131May 4, 2024 11:24 PM

Ken knows she already made a voodoo doll of him. He's treading lightly.

by Anonymousreply 132May 4, 2024 11:26 PM

Wow, two incredibly lucky and incredibly boring female contestants back to back. What are the odds of that.

by Anonymousreply 133May 5, 2024 1:43 AM

How do you say “good riddance” in Comanche?

by Anonymousreply 134May 6, 2024 11:59 PM

Wiki looked steaming mad.

by Anonymousreply 135May 7, 2024 12:00 AM

Ken finally asked what her name meant.

Cool stuff.

by Anonymousreply 136May 7, 2024 12:17 AM

And the fat queen woke up with five clues left. Bye bye WickyWackyBowl.

by Anonymousreply 137May 7, 2024 1:31 AM

Yes, she flopped after saying she set her sites on TOC. Too bad.

by Anonymousreply 138May 7, 2024 3:20 AM

☝️I knew instantly that she sealed her fate with that comment.

by Anonymousreply 139May 7, 2024 3:26 AM

Bye, Wikipedia!

by Anonymousreply 140May 7, 2024 4:21 AM

I thought "L'Etoile du Nord" for MN was obvious, along with Madame Secretary and Temple university.

Comanche champ outraged her welcome .

by Anonymousreply 141May 7, 2024 11:19 AM

I never understand why contestants who are behind during DJ don't seem to search for the DDs. This was true of the lovely lady yesterday.

by Anonymousreply 142May 7, 2024 12:12 PM

[quote]Wiki looked steaming mad.

How was that different from how she normally looked?

Anyway, The Wicker Woman was defeated by the chubby guy and that's all that matters.

by Anonymousreply 143May 7, 2024 2:24 PM

The chubby guys speaks very quickly and adds lots of “Ken.”

by Anonymousreply 144May 7, 2024 4:35 PM

Thought FJ was super easy, but only one of then got it. Everyone in fact was lousy throughout.

by Anonymousreply 145May 8, 2024 1:35 AM

I was as shocked as the contestant who guessed right on FJ.

by Anonymousreply 146May 8, 2024 1:55 AM

No one knew Jim Morrison?

by Anonymousreply 147May 8, 2024 4:39 AM

Uranus always provokes laughter.

by Anonymousreply 148May 8, 2024 11:43 PM

How cute is Ben?

by Anonymousreply 149May 8, 2024 11:43 PM

So many unanswered clues!

The 2 time champ - now, she's indeed lucky.

by Anonymousreply 150May 9, 2024 12:06 AM

Cuteness doesn't win you Jeopardy!

by Anonymousreply 151May 9, 2024 12:06 AM

Ben was adorable. But, he didn’t really stand a chance having missed two DDs and not answering a lot of questions.

by Anonymousreply 152May 9, 2024 12:21 AM

Too much Julia, too little studying.

by Anonymousreply 153May 9, 2024 1:03 AM

How in the hell did Jennifer even qualify for the show? She knew so little and most of the questions that she answered she just guessed wrong — a few times horrendously wrong.

by Anonymousreply 154May 9, 2024 11:59 PM

Got final right, these as well they didn't:

Beer barrel polka (they were probably just too young), Canadian shield, Leyden jar, and Basque (failing that huge giveaway clue was pathetic).

Champ's dress made her look fat, just sayin' ...

by Anonymousreply 155May 10, 2024 12:02 AM

Isabella so greedy!

by Anonymousreply 156May 10, 2024 12:05 AM

Some of Jennifer's responses were so goofy and idiotic, I felt embarrassed for her.

Can you imagine the intelligence level of the people who don't make it on the show?

And poor Isabella: I thought Basque was a giveaway as well, and she lost her step after that fiasco.

by Anonymousreply 157May 10, 2024 12:18 AM

Oh well. Three fraus and the frauest of them all won.

by Anonymousreply 158May 10, 2024 12:32 AM

Isabella was an idiot to bet it all on that DD.

FJ was an easy one for me.

by Anonymousreply 159May 10, 2024 12:57 AM

Has Susan Dey commented about nobody getting the LA law clue?

by Anonymousreply 160May 10, 2024 1:35 AM

The 3 of them were far too young for LA Law.

I guessed Beanie Babies for FJ.

I've now come to respect the current champ. She has an admirable steadiness. And sturdiness, too, lol.

by Anonymousreply 161May 10, 2024 1:44 AM

Bet she has some nice cankles.

by Anonymousreply 162May 10, 2024 2:53 AM

Yes, FJ was super, super easy. Too bad they were all to young to know the answer. 😛😛

by Anonymousreply 163May 10, 2024 4:35 AM

R163, Allison responded correctly.

by Anonymousreply 164May 10, 2024 7:31 AM

R161, Being too young no longer applies. The complete “L. A. Law” series is available on Amazon Prime as well as other streaming services.

Plus, boning up on movies and television series from the past should be part of a contestant’s preparation.

by Anonymousreply 165May 10, 2024 7:48 AM

Shocking no one knew LA Law!

Final did seem easy but I guess you had to have lived through it.

Isabelle should have listened to her instincts. She was foolish to bet it all on the DD. She might have won if she’d bet more wisely

by Anonymousreply 166May 10, 2024 9:16 AM

Andorra wasn't the worst guess. But it's not like she said San Marino.

But she should have known Basque.

by Anonymousreply 167May 10, 2024 9:19 AM

I came to realize that even had Isabella not bet anything on that first DD she still would have lost. She really never rallied in DJ. Great with all the music categories but not so strong anywhere else. Allison is far more well-rounded (no jokes, please, bitches!).

by Anonymousreply 168May 10, 2024 1:15 PM

At least they seem to be easing up on the freak parade. A little.

by Anonymousreply 169May 10, 2024 2:11 PM

Top ten stupidest move in Jeopardy of all time today. Let me know when you spot it.

Fucking moron.

by Anonymousreply 170May 10, 2024 9:18 PM

R170, Firestone?

by Anonymousreply 171May 10, 2024 9:58 PM

R171

by Anonymousreply 172May 10, 2024 10:10 PM

No, R170. But that was.a stupid answer.

Keep guessing.

by Anonymousreply 173May 10, 2024 10:11 PM

JonnyGilbert or TomServo will know.

by Anonymousreply 174May 10, 2024 10:11 PM

R170, Bronco?

by Anonymousreply 175May 10, 2024 11:36 PM

Who is Chee?

by Anonymousreply 176May 10, 2024 11:37 PM

The infamous “calzone” response has to be in the Top 10.

by Anonymousreply 177May 10, 2024 11:45 PM

r170, do you mean when the chubby one didn't go for what was obviously the DJ DD on the board, leaving it for Allison?

Well, he won anyway.

by Anonymousreply 178May 11, 2024 12:09 AM

I really loved the guy in the middle and thought he'd win. I hope they eventually bring him back as a Fan Favorite or 2nd Chancer or whatever they call it.

FJ seemed very obvious to me. Really surprised Allison didn't get it but she'd have lost anyway.

by Anonymousreply 179May 11, 2024 12:11 AM

Will we ever see Chris Pannullo again? We had to wait so long for his reappearance and then - poof! He was gone with no fanfare.

by Anonymousreply 180May 11, 2024 12:12 AM

bronco… corvette…. Jesus Christ.

by Anonymousreply 181May 11, 2024 2:07 AM

I guessed Elantra.

by Anonymousreply 182May 11, 2024 3:17 AM

Yes R178. He got very lucky fat champ lady is also not terribly bright and couldn’t think of any French tires. Been watching Jeopardy since it premiered with Alex. Not once have I seen a DD on the top row. Never. Turns out fat champ lady also knows nothing about Capote books, so it didn’t matter. Still, it’s one of the most idiotic moves I’ve ever seen on the show.

by Anonymousreply 183May 11, 2024 3:20 AM

Anyone remember a former Jeopardy champ named Dennis. Older, tall, bald, long beard, great baritone voice. I think he may have been in the play-in tourneys earlier this season? I was watching a show called Switched on GSN and was surprised to see him as a contestant. It’s a show that starts with five consistently stupid people, with one contestant getting the boot after the first and second rounds. Dennis got the boot after the first round. How humbling.

by Anonymousreply 184May 11, 2024 3:30 AM

R184 Sounds like Dennis Chase. He was on in 2021 (guest host Aaron Rodgers), and was back again in November 2023 for the Wildcard tournament.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 185May 11, 2024 5:54 AM

I also have never seen the DD in the top row.

Allison bet way too much for a DD so late in the game. But she would have lost anyway since she didn’t know Final.

Final was so easy!

I liked both Will and Jonah. Congrats to Will for winning!

Bronco? Corvette? I’m not a car person, but even I knew Thunderbird.

Also knew Mary Kay and her pink Cadillac.

And of course I knew Desperately Seeking Susan. Was yelling the answer at the screen, but none of them heard me!

by Anonymousreply 186May 11, 2024 9:30 AM

Is Will family? My gaydar went off as soon as I saw him.

by Anonymousreply 187May 11, 2024 9:31 AM

Cris will likely be back for some future tournament since the show seems to like tournaments so much now.

Likely we’ll see Juveria and Yungshen invited back for a tournament too. Both were far too good to let them fade away forever.

by Anonymousreply 188May 11, 2024 9:35 AM

That DJ was NOT in the top row, It was an $800 in the second row.

by Anonymousreply 189May 11, 2024 12:58 PM

[quote] That DJ was NOT in the top row,

No one said it was. R183’s point in saying “Not once have I seen a DD on the top row” was that the chubby contestant bypassed the sole remaining $800 clue, which had to (and, in fact, did) contain the sole, remaining DD, and instead picked one of the $400 clues. His dunderheaded move was missing where the obvious DD was.

by Anonymousreply 190May 11, 2024 1:33 PM

It's been years but the hottest contestant, since I don't remember his name, I call him Sweaters. He was from Vancouver, liked to Kayak, and wore these ugly/sexy sweaters on each appearance.

by Anonymousreply 191May 11, 2024 3:17 PM

That’s him R185. How embarrassing to be a Jeopardy champ and then lose a very remedial trivia game show to complete morons.

by Anonymousreply 192May 11, 2024 3:35 PM

[quote] Not once have I seen a DD on the top row.

Very rare, but it's happened. Example from a game in 2019 at link:

by Anonymousreply 193May 11, 2024 8:26 PM

Was that Bartender Tom, R191? I remember the hot guy with those sweaters.

by Anonymousreply 194May 12, 2024 11:21 AM

No. It was a bit before the bartender. The guy was an outdoorsy type.

by Anonymousreply 195May 12, 2024 4:25 PM

Wasn’t Tom the bartender a one and done?

Three dumb contestants tonight. Michael in the middle may be one of the dumbest contestants ever.

by Anonymousreply 197May 13, 2024 11:53 PM

A dull, dull game.

by Anonymousreply 198May 14, 2024 12:03 AM

Who else laughed out loud when the chubby champ responded “Little Shop of Horrors” instead of “The Pawnbroker”?

by Anonymousreply 199May 14, 2024 2:46 AM

I did, and I suspect Ken wanted to.

by Anonymousreply 200May 14, 2024 2:54 AM

R197, I’d be so embarrassed, I wouldn’t want to come back out after FJ.

by Anonymousreply 201May 14, 2024 3:00 AM

Will is a mouth-breathing moron, and he had a runaway game. The contestant coordinators need to be fired post haste!!!

by Anonymousreply 202May 14, 2024 3:15 AM

I couldn't stay awake so I have no idea what happened like I kind of remember double Jeopardy a little bit and then immediately back to sleep.

by Anonymousreply 203May 14, 2024 4:20 AM

R197 is correct. I try to be kind, but the guy pretty much disgraced himself.

by Anonymousreply 204May 14, 2024 12:27 PM

And what about the contestant who was STILL in the hole and when told by Ken there were just 2 minutes remaining needed $800 to get out of the hole but kept going after the $400s when there were still $800s?

by Anonymousreply 205May 14, 2024 1:39 PM

[quote] And what about the contestant who was STILL in the hole and when told by Ken there were just 2 minutes remaining needed $800 to get out of the hole but kept going after the $400s when there were still $800s?

That was the now DL-infamous "Michael in the Middle"...

by Anonymousreply 206May 14, 2024 2:08 PM

That Little Shop of Horrors response was SO bad, the audience broke into laughter.

What the audience should've done was thrown things at the guy - or at the very least, maybe Ken should have gone over and just slapped him.

by Anonymousreply 207May 14, 2024 7:22 PM

I liked both Will and Omar, either would've been OK as a winner with me. Final question was really clever, had no idea.

by Anonymousreply 208May 15, 2024 12:01 AM

Augustus Gloop won again.

by Anonymousreply 209May 15, 2024 12:04 AM

I thought it was some brand of Root Beer.

Omar was handsome, I wish he'd won, though he wasn't the greatest contestant.

by Anonymousreply 210May 15, 2024 12:05 AM

I didn't think of FJ until time was called.

I also Omar was attractive, but he didn't have it in him to win.

The way Ashley talked early in the game made me laugh because it was like she was barely moving her lips.

I was thinking: is she practicing to be a ventriloquist?

R209 - the Augustus Gloop reference is better than the one I was thinking of: Newman, the cover boy from Mad Magazine.

by Anonymousreply 211May 15, 2024 12:52 AM

Alfred E. Neuman

by Anonymousreply 212May 15, 2024 1:29 AM

Wally Plumstead

by Anonymousreply 213May 15, 2024 2:04 AM

I'm glad Grant won, I was tired of the other guy. I feel bad for these older woman who play as I'm sure they're intelligent to make it on the show but aging slows down your reflexes.

by Anonymousreply 214May 16, 2024 12:01 AM

God I can't stand the guy that one tonight I hope he loses tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 215May 16, 2024 1:42 AM

Grant didn't strike me as the strongest player so I'll be surprised if he hangs around for long.

Frankly, I was very surprised that Ken (or the judges) ruled that "Lucy....Arnaz" was enough. But then, the former champ bet so little money I'm not sure he would have won in any case.

And HAS THERE EVER BEEN AN EASIER FJ???

by Anonymousreply 216May 16, 2024 2:02 AM

As a LONGTIME Jeopardy fan (meaning I watched during the Art Fleming days when the clues were covered with cardboard!!) the problem I have with the show is the way the clues are being written!! They're all so wordy, with cutesy/jokesy references sprinkled in, and way too much "clever" wordplay. Ken reads them fast enough, but it sometimes takes a second or two to get the reference they're talking about! They have about fifteen writers listed in the credits, so they should be able to come up with COHERENT and FACTUAL clues.

I cannot account for the parade of weirdo nerds and dumbos who are passing for contestants lately.

by Anonymousreply 217May 16, 2024 3:22 AM

I enjoyed Grant’s enthusiasm.

He didn’t come to play, he came to win.

by Anonymousreply 218May 16, 2024 11:29 AM

I can't stand Grant either. Hairstyle indicates to me he's channeling his inner Fran Lebowitz.

by Anonymousreply 219May 16, 2024 12:00 PM

And why is Grant in a high chair that swivels??? Can any dumbass just request a chair now??

by Anonymousreply 220May 16, 2024 1:45 PM

R220, Injuries from his car accident?

by Anonymousreply 221May 16, 2024 1:48 PM

Sirhan Sirhan???

by Anonymousreply 222May 16, 2024 8:55 PM

Grant is obviously a serial killer. He hunts down prostitutes in his office chair with lumbar support.

by Anonymousreply 223May 16, 2024 10:06 PM

This is the first time I’ve noticed a contestant in a chair.

by Anonymousreply 224May 17, 2024 2:31 AM

Grant leans forward in his chair a lot so it's more obvious he's in a chair than other contestants who sit.

by Anonymousreply 225May 17, 2024 3:11 AM

The Sun reports that Grant was on Reddit and answered the question about the chair, saying he has some kind of back arthritis that makes standing for long periods of time difficult.

(And no, he's not the first contestant to be in some kind of chair.)

God I can't stand him. It's too bad the other two are so awful but he couldn't help but win.

Is he on the spectrum?

by Anonymousreply 228May 17, 2024 11:45 AM

Why so much hate for an arthritic grocery clerk?

by Anonymousreply 229May 17, 2024 12:02 PM

It's the hair, r229.

Anybody else see the Tiny Tim resemblance?

by Anonymousreply 236May 18, 2024 12:05 AM

R236 yes absolutely. And does somebody else said above it's totally the hair I kept thinking he probably would be cute if he just f****** get rid of that hair. Can somebody summarize what can was explaining when they came back right before he read the final Jeopardy clue. I completely missed it because I was busy trying to find out if Ben folds five is a band known for having profane performances. The reason I was looking at this is because an amphitheater near me is having them in concert this year and somebody asked on their Facebook if this show would be PGm.

by Anonymousreply 237May 18, 2024 1:02 AM

I knew FJ immediately only because I was born and raised in Massachusetts.

I have no problem with Grant, which places me in a minority.

by Anonymousreply 238May 18, 2024 1:15 AM

R237,

In one of the clues, Tiny Tim responded with “Elixir of Life”, to which Ken said “yes”

After the break, and before FJ, Ken announced a scoring change because the correct response was “Elixir” as the judges determined “Elixir of Life” was different.

BTW, FJ was beyond easy for me as I grew up in Medford, one of the cities mentioned in the clue.

by Anonymousreply 239May 18, 2024 1:15 AM

I like his Melissa Manchester hair, I think it’s the twisting about in the high chair in contrast to everyone else that, to me, casts him in the light of an enfant terrible.

by Anonymousreply 240May 18, 2024 1:22 AM

R239 thanks I remember when he answered elixir of life that I felt pretty sure they'd overturn it but then I forgot about it.

The final Jeopardy was easy for me too because I saw the movie and I think about it a lot I don't know why exactly. But also dar Williams did a song that leads to mystic River or at least in my mind it does.

by Anonymousreply 241May 18, 2024 1:33 AM

Tonight was a bit of a bummer. I tune in to see the rare glimmer of trans excellence we’re afforded on network TV, only to watch idly while Amy gets steamrolled in a coordinated attack by Cis, Inc.

by Anonymousreply 242May 18, 2024 1:59 AM

A grocery clerk that can’t stand?

by Anonymousreply 243May 18, 2024 2:10 AM

All of the clerks in my grocery (NYC) could do their work sitting on a chair.

by Anonymousreply 244May 18, 2024 2:20 AM

Similarly, I think cashiers at Aldi are in chairs.

by Anonymousreply 245May 18, 2024 2:21 AM

There was a walmart by my Dad's apartment that I would do his shopping at and one of the cashiers there was always sitting. However one evening she was in the line that sold cigarettes and I remember there were two people ahead of me and the guy she was checking out asked for a pack so she got up and grab them and then sat back down and finished checking him out. The next guy also ask for a cigarettes and that just set it off and before she got up to grab his she bellowed down the line asking if anybody else was planning to ask for cigarettes so she wouldn't have to get up more than once. Of course no one responded and I'm certain that the people after me we're planning to buy cigarettes but opted not to.
